WAH wishes to sincerely thank some amazing veterinary professionals in the greater Phoenix area who generously provide their time and talents to the care of Wild At Heart’s critically injured raptors. Without their knowledge and dedication, Wild At Heart would not be able to give severely injured birds of prey the best chance of survival and release back to the Wild.

Dr. Ashely Kramer, Wild At Heart, is our brand new addition to our veterinary team! Dr. Ashley joined Wild At Heart in January 2022 as a part-time veterinarian, every Monday. With a passion for birds, and particularly raptors, we are so lucky to have her knowledge, expertise, and dedicated care to give our rehabbing patients and residents education and foster birds in-depth care. With her on staff, even part-time, we have added needed laboratory equipment for onsite diagnostics and coming soon, a gas anesthesia machine and an x-ray machine to turn us into a modern rehabbing clinic.

Dr. Alex Casuccio, of Scottsdale Animal Healthcare: 480-538-9000, 18294 N. Pima Rd, Scottsdale, 85255. Dr. Casuccio and his amazing staff has been our primary veterinarian for the last 4+ years. Dr. Casuccio reached out to us to volunteer his services after moving to Arizona. He spent 20 years with the West Virginia Raptor Rehabilitation Center and has done many successful surgeries for us along with needed radiographs, medical procedures and guidance, and procuring medications and supplies. Dr. Alex is a busy, gifted veterinarian that donates his time and talents to help care for our birds.

Dr. Zoe Reed, of Eyeshine Veterinary, 888-393-8385, 20950 N 29th Ave, Phoenix, 85027 has been our ophthalmologist specialist for 5+ years. Eyesight is crucial to raptor health and she and her staff have seen our birds both onsite at our facility and at her busy practice in Phoenix. She provides guidance in all things eyes, and we are grateful for her tireless and donated care for our birds.

Dr. Mike Kiedrowski, of Dove Valley Animal Hospital, 480-595-5731, 4815 E Carefree Hwy, Cave Creek, 85331, has been our go-to in a pinch veterinarian ever since we moved to Cave Creek in the 90’s. Dr. K donates his time for some of our critical cases where we need immediate help. He and his staff make room for us in their busy schedule whenever possible. Dr. K also donates mice to us on a regular basis as he raises them for his many reptiles.

Our Early Years: We are indebted to these wonderful veterinary clinics:

All Creatures Animal Clinic of Phoenix: 602-493-5090, 4022 E. Greenway, Ste. 7, Phoenix, 85032

Bob and Sam Fox have had a long professional relationship with Dr. Irv Ingram at All Creatures Animal Clinic, starting with Dr. Ingram being the Foxes’ personal veterinarian for their own animals well before the start of Wild At Heart. Then, with the arrival of Chia, the founding owl of Wild At Heart, Dr. Ingram took on an even greater significance in Bob and Sam’s lives. Since those early days, Dr. Ingram and the staff of All Creatures have provided countless hours for exams, radiographs, surgeries and follow-up care for numerous owls, hawks, falcons, and eagles. Dr. Ingram retired in 2020.

Saguaro Veterinary Clinic of Scottsdale: 480-948-1770 8426 E. McDonald Dr. Scottsdale AZ

Dr. Rick Soltero, began to help Bob and Sam Fox of Wild At Heart care for injured and ill raptors in the early 1990’s. Now, Dr. Soltero’s sons, Dr. Mike and Dr, John, along with Dr. Ketchmark and their caring staff have continued to provide much-needed surgical services for our more critically injured patients.

Eye Care For Animals of Phoenix, South Phoenix, and North Scottsdale: main # 602- 995-2871

Drs. Barrett, Sigler, and the extensive staff of Eye Care for Animals always greet our patients (and our volunteers) with smiles and some really cool devices to peer into raptor eyes. At Eye Care for Animals, specialized care and sometimes surgical intervention is provided to help Wild At Heart raptors suffering from mild to severe eye injuries.

Dr. Nancy Murbach, 480 946-3227 Veterinary House Call Service, Pet Mobile Services
